Uganda: Why you need to visit the garden of Africa in 2020

It might not be as famous as Rwanda, Kenya or Botswana, but Uganda is one of Africa’s most inspiring destinations By Ella Alexander What no one tells you about Uganda is how green it is. The garden of Africa, it’s a shock of emerald flora. Roads are lined by mango, jackfruit and banana trees, humpy hills form shamrock-coloured tea and coffee plantations and lakes and rivers are flanked by clumps of tall elephant grass. Its tangles of dense jungle and forests lay home to some of the world’s favourite primates and its plains are decorated with acacia trees and thickets of grassland. This swathe of greenery is juxtaposed with red soil, considered among the planet’s most fertile. Compared to its neighbours, Sudan, Kenya and Tanzania, Uganda is a garden of fecundity. Plant something in Uganda and it can’t help itself but grow.   The list of Ugandan exports is lengthy – coffee is the biggest, followed by legumes – mangos, bananas, cassava, avocados, papaya, oranges, maize and pineapples. Tea is also a growing market, as well as cacao. There are two rainy seasons in Uganda, so water is always in abundance. Try as the country’s former political leaders might (and […]

Although the majority of people might believe hotels to be the best option for their stop, there are other types of accommodation that might suit your needs better. A lot of people are fans of the all-inclusive experience, and it is no wonder why. Virtually anything that you could possibly want is included as part of an all-inclusive holiday, which is exactly what most people want when they are going to be stopping away from home. However, accommodation such as a self-catering apartment could actually be the best experience for you. Even if you have not tried a self-catering apartment in the past, now could be the time for you. In this article, we are looking at the key advantages of self-catering apartments. Self-catering apartments: Freedom to do as you wish, when you wish Although all-inclusive holidays are brilliant, there is one big downfall to the fact that you have everything included: you have to abide by the times that the hotel or complex operator sets. 10 Reasons to Visit Uganda

Daniela Pontis is our Africa Product Manager. Here she relives the moment she met a family of gorillas and gives us ten reasons why you should visit Uganda Uganda is the country where East and West Africa meet, featuring lush forests inhabited by primates and arid savannahs which are home to a wide array of plains game. Lakes, mountains, tea plantations and waterfalls are some of the landmarks that made an impression on Winston Churchill when he travelled here, leading him to refer to it as “The Pearl of Africa”. I visited Uganda more than a century after Churchill and I was pleased to see that it has maintained the same beauty and ‘wow’ factor. As Africa Product Manager, I have travelled extensively through my favourite continent and I will never be tired to repeat that every single country provides a different experience; however there is no doubt Uganda occupies a very special place in my ranking!Unsurprisingly the feedback of those who have had the privilege to visit this country seems to be consistent. There is something magical about it, a fantastic vibe created by a mix of elements that combined have the power to metaphorically blow every traveller away. […]
